Pink Houses and Pink Tatas

What a day!  This morning the whole family woke up early to catch the ferry to Burano.  Gianluca had some business there so the rest of us decided that we'd make the trek with him.  Burano is very close to Venice and if you read last summer's post about that watery city you'll understand why it is so near and dear to my heart.  Burano is a canal community as well, but I would explain her as Venice's acid tripping younger sister.  She howls for attention from every corner of her 300 inhabitant, lace making, multi colored being.  I can't wait for you to meet her in my pictures!!  DON'T SKIP AHEAD...you might miss something important...

After navigating the streets of Burano, Gian took us to the coast of Jesolo and dropped us off there while he made another work call.  We stayed for only an hour or so but our time there was peaceful and liberating.  I love European beaches for one reason and one reason only.  All beaches are the same to me.  True, some are far more breathtaking than others, or they smell better, or they have prettier people on them,...blah blah blah...who cares...I'm just as happy/miserable on Galveston Island as I am in the south of France with the glorious sun on my skin/sand in my crack... But, what European beaches offer me that the ones at home don't is the chance to give my much neglected, sickeningly white, tiny little tatas some good old fashion vitamin D.  Seriously, don't knock it till you try it.

When we got home I took the kids to the bank and the grocery store to get some things for a little Texas Surprise for when Gian and Silvi got back home from their evening engagements.  We had GUACAMOLE for an appetizer tonight!!  I was having some serious avocado withdrawal.  I eat, on average, about 2 (read: 5) avocados a week, but Italians don't really do avocado. You should have seen the kids faces, I don't know if two people have ever been so confused.  Laura sat in the kitchen and watched me in awe.  I think Texans are born knowing how to make a good Guac... Anyway, they ate the whole bowl so I must have done something right.  Gianluca grilled some fish and we had my first real Prosecco for dinner!!  Prosecco is the sparkling wine that is made in this region of Italy...It's ridiculously good, I was embarrassed at how quickly I drank mine.

I'm ending my evening with a full belly, having had a full day, and subsequently a full heart.  My sweet Italians are becoming more and more like a family to me, which I know I'll need in the weeks to come.  God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.  Enjoy Burano!!

Peace, Love and Travel,
Reba

Whoa.  Love at first sight.

I can't take it. I'm giddy about this color!!

Well, hello there tiny Italian bambina.

Need this to be my front porch one day.

Reflection!!!  Aw gee!

I'm in love.  I want to marry this town.

These people clearly love color as much as I do.

SCARLETT!!!  This one's for you.

Also, Scarlett, these boat posts.  They remind me of your Mackenzie Childs stuff.

Well...damn Scar, I just thought about you a lot while I was here today.   Running princesses for life!

Uuuuuuummmm... ::mind blown::
