New Family!!

Hello from Antibes, France!  Ally and I boarded a train in Paris and flit through the French countryside down through the mountains and on to the coast of the French Riviera!  Lovely, absolutely stunning.  When we arrived on the platform (feeling very Harry Potter-ish), Ally's cousin Lisa met us with her French hubby Mark.  Mark grew up in Antibes, but the couple moved back to his native stomping grounds about ten years ago.  They took us through the small coastal town and up to their sweet French Chateau to set our things down before dinner.  Mark took us out to a great little Italian restaurant and ordered for us in French.  We're very close to the coast of Italy so the fusion of cultures in Antibes lends this place a really interesting cultural vibe.

The next morning we woke up, put our bathing suits on, and walked (yes I said WALKED) to the beach...which is about five minutes from the chateau...so there.  Ally and I got to experience our first topless beach.  We were with Mark and Lisa so we didn't partake, but that's something that we'll want to go back for, alone, when we're back from Prague...it's on the bucket list!!

We took a longer, more meandering walk home from the beach and went through the artist's market square in the old town and along the ramparts of the city.  There is so much culture and history here you can almost smell it in the air!  When we got home Ally and I did some laundry the good old fashioned French Riviera way and then we helped Lisa start on dinner (a fabulous vegetarian curry dish).  We finished off the night with some nail painting and some Rose from Marks wine cellar...yes they have a wine cellar we're in France!

We leave tonight for Prague in the Czech Republic.  We're flying out late tonight and will not return to Antibes until Thursday morning.  Ally and I are packing just the essentials for our side trip, so we won't be blogging for the next couple of days.  I'll be taking lots of pictures and I'll catch you all up as soon as we're back to the home base.  We fly out of the airport in Nice so we're just going over to spend the day there and explore a new city.  Au Revoir!
